Additive manufacturing and CNC machining can address different needs within the same component. Printing supports complex geometry; subsequent machining can address the specified mating faces, holes and other functional interfaces.
Agree the handover
The manufacturing review should identify datums, machining allowance, clamping access and the sequence of operations. These decisions are easier to address before the part is printed.
Inspect the finished requirements
Use one controlled drawing revision across the process. Confirm which dimensions will be measured and which records are needed. The best route depends on the part, quantity and required performance; a generic percentage saving is not a substitute for reviewing the actual design.
