Design freedom meets precision
Metal 3D printing can create internal passages, lattice structures and consolidated components that are difficult to produce by machining alone. CNC machining complements this freedom by finishing selected surfaces and features to the drawing. The practical question is not which process wins, but where each process adds value.

Plan the handover before printing
Define machining allowances, datums and accessible clamping areas early. Consider how heat treatment and support removal will affect the part before critical interfaces are finished. Keeping the CAD model, drawing and revision aligned helps avoid unnecessary clarification between stages.
Evaluate the complete route
Compare printing, post-processing, machining and inspection together. A lower printing price does not necessarily mean a lower finished-part cost. Quantity, geometry and specification determine whether a combined route is appropriate; efficiency improvements must be assessed for the actual project.
What to send for a coordinated review
- 3D CAD model and current 2D drawing
- Critical dimensions, datums and tolerances
- Material, quantity and finishing requirements
- Inspection scope and delivery priorities
