COMPONENT APPLICATIONS

From the first model
to the part that fits.

Select an application area to review the component, interfaces and manufacturing route.

FORM / FIT / ASSEMBLY

Bring the design into the vehicle.

Review lamp housings, cockpit ducts, trim parts and exterior models before committing to tooling. Choose the printing process around the detail, appearance, assembly checks and intended use.

  • SLA resin for fine detail and appearance models
  • SLS / MJF nylon and FDM for practical fit and assembly checks
  • Mounting points, clips, clearances and drawing revision reviewed together

THE MANUFACTURING ROUTE

Develop the geometry.
Control the interfaces.

Plan prototypes, tooling and functional components around the part drawing and its role in the vehicle.

01 / METAL & POLYMER 3D PRINTING

Prototype faster.
Explore more of the design.

Review resin appearance models, nylon assembly prototypes, lightweight tooling and complex metal components. Select the process around detail, geometry, material and the intended checks.

  • Body, lighting and interior fit-validation models
  • Printed fixtures, ducts and equipment interfaces
  • Complex metal geometry with CNC allowance where needed

02 / CNC MACHINING & SECONDARY MACHINING

Machine the features
that make it fit.

Define housings, mounting brackets, fixture plates and precision interfaces around your controlled drawing. Review standalone CNC parts or metal printed components with critical faces and bores machined afterwards.

  • Bores, datums, threads and mounting faces
  • Material condition, machining access and workholding
  • Final dimensions and inspection after finishing

Useful questions before sending an automotive component for review.

Which files are useful for an automotive part review?

Send a 3D model, controlled 2D drawing, material grade, quantities and the required finish. Mark critical interfaces, drawing revisions and any inspection or document requirements.

Can we start with a prototype or small batch?

Yes. Share the part and required quantity for review. CK will discuss the manufacturing route, inspection requirements, quotation and lead time for the project.

How do you choose between printing and CNC?

The route depends on geometry, material, quantity and intended use. Resin or nylon may suit development models and fit checks; CNC suits accessible precision features. Complex metal geometry can combine printing with CNC-machined interfaces.

How are finishing and inspection agreed?

Identify which dimensions apply to the finished part, the required surface condition and protected interfaces. CK reviews the manufacturing and inspection plan against the agreed drawing.

Can CK review drawings under an NDA?

Discuss the confidentiality requirements before sending sensitive project information. Share your NDA for review and agree the document and file-transfer arrangements with the team.
